Description

Northern Lights Rock and Ice is an outdoor universally accessible family recreation and team development facility unlike anything else in the NE. All our activities are open year round for fun and adventure. Come rock climb on our one-of-a-kind pinnacle or L-Wall, ice climb on a real ice wall in the winter and artificial ice walls in the summer, off site rock and ice guiding available with advance booking. Challenge yourself on our exciting and unique group high challenge course and soar down one of our 450 ft zip wires. We also offer a mid-level challenge course with more traditional single and group belay systems and a large low element course nestled amongst the trees. Winter activities include all the adventures above and snow tubing, winter survivor (low to the ground challenges great for all ages) and groomed trails for snowshoeing and Nordic skiing.

Northern Lights Rock and Ice located at The Essex Resort & Spa offers adventure recreation and team development services that include many different outdoor activities. Workshops are available indoors at The Essex Resort’s conference rooms. We serve families, companies, schools, colleges, universities, and scouts and sports teams. All ages and abilities are welcome at NLRI. Our staff has over 35 years of combined experience in recreational and team development adventure programs.

Families and Friends have fun playing together, bonding and socializing. We host birthday parties, family events, bride and groom and wedding parties all year round. Whatever your ability level is, we have something for you. Take an adrenaline pumping walk on our "High on Life" challenge course, exhilarate your senses with a cargo zip, rock and ice climb on our Pinnacle or "L" walls, kids love to play on our Rainbow play set and some folks enjoy just watching from our covered patio or our Aurora Tower observation deck.

Corporations and business groups enrich their teams with a variety of “True Team” experiences. Programs at NLRI are planned around your teams' dynamics and goals. All programs are customized and expertly facilitated to provide your group a challenging True Team experience. We offer many programs that are rich in experiential learning, team process and goal setting; they optimize the value of "The True Team" experience.

Tour groups enhance their entire tour with a half or full day experience at Northern Lights Rock and Ice. Our low element course activities will challenge and get the group up and moving. Then move to the high challenge course for either our “High on Life” or our “Zip and You’ll Zip Again”. Upon your group’s request we have rock and ice climbing options available.

School, scout, sports teams youth and college groups work and bond together. We facilitate the natural exuberance of youth with an active and creative program. We listen and work with teachers, coaches and leaders to assess the learning outcomes and goals of each group. Our staff is experienced in both youth and adult experiential learning processes; we provide leadership, team development and recreational services for small and large size groups.

NLRI is located directly behind The Essex Resort and Spa, a Four Diamond Resort; they offer great packages and group rates for clients of NLRI. The Essex Resort campus includes amenities such as conference rooms, golf, tennis, fitness room, Jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spacious grounds with gardens and a fly fishing trout pond.
